31,000 Research Scholars to Benefit
The revised UGC fellowship rates are a welcome move that will directly benefit around 31,000 research scholars across the country. This hike after years will provide them enhanced financial support to focus on their academic pursuits.
The 25-30% increase accounts for inflation over the past years. Timely revision of fellowships is important to sustain India’s research talent. The UGC should consider annual upgrades indexed to inflation rates.
