Jaipur: After the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) revoked the course suspension order for the current academic year, aspiring B.Ed students have reason to rejoice as Vikram Deb College, Jeypore is set to resume the courses in the current academic session. Ready to do.
The B.Ed course offering 50 self-financing seats was first started in the college during the 2018-19 academic session and will continue till 2022-23. However, NCTE had directed the college authorities to stop the course starting from the 2023-24 academic session, citing inadequate infrastructure in compliance with the B.Ed course norms.
Subsequently, the course was suspended, and the education department refrained from accepting applications from interested students for this academic year. Given that there was no other educational institution offering B.Ed course except Vikram Deb College in the undivided Koraput district, students as well as various stakeholders appealed to both the college authorities and the education department to reinstate the course .
Recently, the college authorities appealed to the NCTE to allow the continuation of the courses by resolving their queries online. As a result, just three days ago, NCTE directed college authorities to resume B.Ed classes. Principal Gopal Halder announced that students can enroll in the B.Ed program from this academic session, and the process is scheduled to start after October 17.
