The council has requested heads of institutions to inform their students about the online registration during this period so that no student misses out the registration process.

Portal to Open for Form Filling

The portal for filling up online forms for Assam Class 12 board exams will open at the appropriate time for students to submit their application. More details about documents required, steps to apply etc will be updated soon.

Exam Fees

As per reports, students belonging to government, provincialized, recognized venture schools whose parents’ income is Rs 2,00,000 or less have been exempted from paying the exam fees.

Last year, the normal exam fee for Assam Class 12 board exams was Rs 500 per student. Fees is likely to remain the same this year as well.

Exams in Feb-March Like CBSE

Similar to CBSE Board, Assam Board’s Class 12 examinations will also commence in the month of February. However, the board is yet to issue the final timetable.

According to the usual schedule, the AHSEC 12th board exams are expected to be organized in February-March 2024.

Assam Board’s Evaluation System

Assam Board has a unique system of evaluating answer sheets. As per reports, every subject’s paper is divided into two parts – Objective and Subjective.

Objective part has multiple choice questions and is evaluated by optical marking machine for swift results. The subjective part containing long and short answer questions is evaluated manually.

Checking of Answer Sheets

As per the board’s exam regulations, each subject’s answer book is examined by a minimum of two examiners separately to ensure fair evaluation.

In case of major discrepancy in the two scores, the paper is sent to a third evaluator, which is called ‘Arbitration’. The final marks allotted are the average of the two closest scores.

Quick Declaration of Results

Owing to the partial automation in evaluations, AHSEC declares Class 12 results within a short time span after conclusion of board exams. This helps students in an early start for preparing and applying for higher education admissions.

In 2022, the Assam HS Result was announced in late June, about two months after exams finished in May. A similar schedule is likely for 2024 results too.

With the exam notification now released, Assam Board students should start their preparation to put up a good show in the finals. Timely registration for exams is also important.
